Monday Morning Ceremony Marks 16th Anniversary of World Trade Center Tragedy

Sunday, September 10th, 2017

The solemn ceremony at the fire hall on Main Street has noted and remembered the 9/11 tragedy each year since 2001.

Susanville City Fire Chief James Moore is inviting the public to join the department in a commemoration of the firefighters, paramedics, police officers and other innocent victims whose lives were ended by the tragic terrorist attack of September 11th, 2001.

The Susanville Fire Department is joining with remembrances being held all across the country Monday morning. The observance will begin at 6:30a.m. on the lawn at the fire hall at 1505 Main Street.

Just before 7:00 the group will assemble in front of the flagpole, the Honor Guard will present the colors and there will be a moment of silence and a prayer. The ceremony will begin promptly at 7:05a.m.

Of the 2,977 people killed in the September 11th attacks, 412 were emergency workers in New York City who responded to the World Trade Center.

If your organization or group would like to participate please phone the Susanville Fire Department at 257-5152.

Why We Need Reader Support
Our independent, local coverage takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. While we make most of our money from advertising revenues, these days those can only go so far to support what we do. Every dollar our readers contribute goes towards making SusanvilleStuff a stronger voice in the community with better, more comprehensive content. We increasingly need the help of our readers to support us with either a voluntary subscription or a one-time contribution.

You don't have to subscribe to SusanvilleStuff, but we will be incredibly thankful if you do!
