Do you make awesome chili or salsa? The deadline is fast approaching to enter Susanville’s oldest and most prestigious chili and salsa contest at next week’s Rails to Trails festival.
Along with the chili and salsa contests, the festival features traditional handcar races — the only parallel, hand pump races in northern California – local microbrews from Lassen Ale Works, vendors galore and activities for young and old alike.
Local favorites Forgery will be performing live between 11:00 and 3:00p.m.
How to Enter the Rails to Trails Festival Competitions
Entries in the handcar team, chili and salsa competitions are limited and on a first-come, first-served basis.
“It’s a great way to promote your business or non-profit organization and also team build,” explains Melissa McCoy, one of the event organizers.
Entry forms are available at Every Bloomin’ Thing nursery on Highway 395 just east of Johnstonville, or you can stop by the Chamber of Commerce office at 75 N. Weatherlow Street in Susanville. The deadline to enter is Monday, October 3rd.
This year the festival is offering visitors a chance to take a ‘fun run’ on a handcar for only $5!
