Two of Lassen County’s standout young ladies are in Santa Clara this week, competing against the best and the brightest that California has to offer for the title of Miss California State “California State’s Young Woman of Achievement.”
The 34th Annual California State Youth Accolades Scholarship Competition is being held at the Santa Clara Convention Center and Ginger Miller and Ivanna Rose have spent the week preparing for what promises to be an event they will remember forever. Since their arrival in Santa Clara they have participated in interviews, workshops, and rehearsals – all leading up to the final competition.
Contestants are judged on community service, personality, academic achievement, community advocacy, communicative skills and a stage performance.
Both Ginger Miller, who was Miss Lassen County 2013, and Ivanna Rose who was 2013’s Ambassadress of Susanville, have a lengthy list of qualifications and accomplishments that should impress judges.
Last night the girls competed in the impromptu question and communications portions, tonight on-stage at the convention center the girls will perform their talent and finish the night with the crowning of Miss California State.
As you would expect, in a statewide contest with $10,000 in awards, the competition is fierce and every contestant who has made it to this level is really good.
The weeklong program is sponsored by the California State Fair and the woman chosen to wear the crown will represent the State Fair and the California Fair Industry as public relations specialists and Ambassadors of Goodwill.
