At a special meeting on April 17th, the Susanville City Council voted unanimously to approve the appointment of Armenda ‘Mendy’ Schuster to fill the council seat left empty by Councilmember Rod De Boer.
“The Council interviewed six applicants who answered a series of questions and discussed their qualifications and vision for the future of the community,” said City Administrator Jared Hancock in a press handout today. “Ms. Schuster has been appointed to fill the remainder of former Councilmember De Boer’s term of office through June 2018.”
According to Hancock, Schuster was born and raised in Susanville, and has worked for both Lassen Union High School and Lassen Community College. She served on the Site Council for both Meadow View and Diamond View schools and brings experience, dedication and commitment to the community.
Schuster will be sworn in and seated on the City Council at the April 19th, meeting.
To be eligible, candidates must have been at least 18 years of age and registered voters whose primary residence is located in Susanville.
