Lassen High School’s ASB has announced a full slate of activities during the school’s homecoming week, October 2nd through October 6th. Throughout the week the ASB is planning activities such as a pep rally, class floats, and spirit days centered around the theme LHS Hosts the Oscars.
Floats are presented by the freshman, sophomore, junior and senior classes, with the most popular float earning spirit points for their class. The freshmen float will revolve around West Side Story, the sophomore float will be focused on Titanic, the junior float will be centered around Rocky and the senior float will focus on Forrest Gump.
Week-long spirit days include: Favorite Movie Character day on Monday, Tuesday will be Superheroes vs Villains, “On Wednesdays We Wear Pink,” Thursday is Genre day (where Freshmen will have Comedy, Sophomores will have Animation, Juniors will have Holiday, Seniors will have Western), and of course Purple and Gold Friday.
The class advisor of the class with the most spirit points will win an Oscar, as will the homecoming royalty, alumni of the year and two winners of a special game at the rally.
The ever-popular Powder Puff game will be battled on Arnold Field Wednesday, October 4th,with kickoff starting at 6:30p.m. The Senior/Freshman team will compete against the Junior/Sophomore team, coached by Grizzly football players, and cheered on by special guest cheerleaders.
Admission is $5, or $2 for seniors or students with an ASB card.
Other sporting events for the week include home volleyball matches on Tuesday in the Cave and a home field hockey game on October 4th. On Friday, October 6th homecoming week wraps up when the LHS football teams take on the Yreka Miners.
