Irene Annand- April 11, 2018

Irene Annand

Irene Annand September 22, 1924 – April 11, 2018.

Irene Annand devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully after a short illness at the age of 93. Irene was born in Great Falls, Montana to Thomas and Mary Bronec, homesteaders in Geraldine Montana. She grew up with her three brothers, Francis, Louis, Thomas and her sister Martha. Irene was the only one to complete high school. She graduated in 1947 as a Registered Nurse from Columbus Hospital in Great Falls. She held the position of a Head Nurse and was also a member of the United States Cadet Nurse Corps. During this time Irene began writing to a friend of her sister’s fianc‚, Robert “Bob” Annand who became the Love of her Life. When he returned from the war in 1945, he moved to Montana, finished his education, and married his sweetheart in Great Falls on November 24, 1949. Irene and Bob raised their 3 children Mariann, Tom and Patti in Bakersfield, Martinez, Concord and Susanville. They retired to Forest Ranch in 1983.

Irene was a wonderful homemaker and the best pie maker. She supported her husband during all of his job changes, and her children during school days and continued into their adult lives. Irene filled her home with all of her favorite things; humming-birds, Canadian Geese, turtles, religious icons and a closet full of perfectly matched clothes and accessories. Irene, Bob and family traveled to many states and countries but their favorites were Hawaii and Africa. The balloon ride over the Serengeti was a favorite event in her life.

Irene is survived by her 3 children, Mariann Novarina, Tom Annand (Diane), and Patti Glass (Sam). She will be greatly missed by her 3 granddaughters Shawna McNutt (Caleb), Stephanie Amato (Mike), Breanna Glass and great grandchildren Aiden, Shawn, Liam, Daniel and Keara.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 22, 2018, at Brusie Funeral Home in Chico, CA from 5-8pm, including a Rosary at 7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, April 23, 2018, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Chico at 12 noon. A family committal service will follow at Glen Oaks Memorial Park.
