Lassen Municipal Utility District has announced that Levi Prater and Carson Chavez, both 2017 Lassen High graduates, are recipients of this year’s LMUD Community Scholarships. Both young men were in the top-25 of their class at Lassen and graduated with honors.
According to LMUD Public Relations Manager Theresa Phillips, Levi, the son of Janesville residents Kami and Clayton Prater, plans to attend Butte College in Chico where he will enroll in the schools prestigious welding program. He hopes to use his education to work for an electric utility as a welder.
Carson is the son of Joel and Angela Chavez of Susanville – he plans on attending the University of California at Santa Barbara and will major in Business.
LMUD’s scholarship program is funded through the utilities Public Benefits program. Each year, two $1,500 scholarships are awarded to students who attend school in the district’s service territory and whose parents or guardians reside in a home served by LMUD.
“Congratulations to Levi and Carson,” said Phillips. “LMUD is proud to be able to contribute toward their academic success.”
