The Susanville Symphony will bring glad tidings and the holiday spirit to Lassen County with its annual Christmas Concert performances slated for this Friday and Saturday, December 15th and 16th.
This year’s concert theme is ‘Christmas Around The World’ and it will feature history, customs and music from different countries.
“When I first began to arrange Christmas carols my mom bought me an out of print caroling book that talked about traditions and music from every part of the globe” explains Symphony Conductor and Artistic Director Ben Wade. “This in part was the inspiration for the concert.”
Music at this year’s holiday concerts comes from Christmas in places like Austria, with the Radetzky March, a Huron Indian Carol from France, Stille Nacht from Germany and pieces from other destinations around the globe.
A special rendition of I’ll be home for Christmas will honor families and those serving overseas.
Guest harpist Marina Roznitovsky from Reno, will be performing movements from Rutter’s Suite Lyrique, a piece that will transport the listeners to a magical kingdom far away.
Performances are Friday, December 15th at 7:00p.m. and Saturday, December 16th at 2:30p.m. at the Susanville Assembly of God Church.
Premium seats are $30 each, general admission is $22 and you can buy tickets at Margie’s Book Nook or Axia Home Loans.
