Lassen Land Trails Trust Holding Brewing Contest April 28th

The Lassen Land and Trails Trust is hosting its first Lassen County Homebrew Competition to support its activities in conservation, working landscapes and trails. Homebrewers and beer tasters will be part of the event scheduled for Saturday, April 28th, from 5:00 to 8:00p.m., at the Historic Susanville Railroad Depot, 601 Richmond Road.

Participants will sample a variety of home-brewed offerings along with selecting the people’s choice awards in two categories: Lassen Ale Works wort, where all contestants use the same base ingredient, and an open category. Beer tasters will receive commemorative tasting glasses.

Home brewers can enter the contest for a $5 entry fee and they must provide at least three gallons for tasting.

To enter, contact Andrew Johnson at 708-351-6832 or send an email to [email protected]. Notable home brewers already entered include Susan River Brewing Company, Susan’s Villians Brewing and Long Valley Brewing.

Tickets for beer tasters are $20 pre-sale, or $25 at the door, and are available at the Lassen County Chamber of Commerce, Every Bloomin’ Thing, Margie’s Book Nook and the Lassen Ale Works Boardroom.

Proceeds from the fundraiser will support Nature Camp, the Susanville Farmer’s Market, and management of conservation easements that conserve working lands and Lassen County’s rural way of life. Sponsors include Lassen Ale Works of Susanville, Reno Homebrewer and Northern Brewer.
