Lassen County Supervisors Make Recommendations on Statewide Ballot Measures

supesballotAt its October 18th regular meeting, the Lassen County Board of Supervisors unanimously supported a ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ recommendation on 15 of the 17 statewide ballot measures that voters will be faced with in the November 8th General Election.

“Extensive discussion was held by the Board,” said board Executive Assistant Regina Schaap in a brief statement. “The Board received information about each measure from the Secretary of State’s Official Voter Information Guide.”

“The Board also reviewed recommendations made by statewide organizations, including positions taken by the California State Association of Counties and Rural County Representatives of California.”

Board of Supervisor’s Recommendations

The Board is recommending a YES vote on:

Prop 52 – Medi-Cal Hospital Fee Program. Initiative Constitutional Amendment and Statute.

Prop 54 – Legislature. Legislation and Proceedings. Initiative Constitutional Amendment and Statute.

Prop 66 – Death Penalty. Procedures. Initiative Statute.

Prop 67 – Ban on Single-Use Plastic Bags. Referendum.

The Board is recommending a No vote on:

Prop 51 – School Bonds. Funding for K-12 School and Community College Facilities. Initiative Statute.

Prop 53 – Revenue Bonds. Statewide Voter Approval. Initiative Constitutional Amendment.

Prop 55 – Tax Extension to Fund Education and Healthcare. Initiative Constitutional Amendment.

Prop 56 – Cigarette Tax to Fund Healthcare, Tobacco Use Prevention, Research, and Law Enforcement. Initiative Constitutional Amendment and Statute.

Prop 57 – Criminal Sentences. Parole. Juvenile Criminal Proceedings and Sentencing. Initiative Constitutional Amendment and Statute.

Prop 59 – Corporations. Political Spending. Federal Constitutional Protections. Legislative Advisory Question.

Prop 61 – State Prescription Drug Purchases. Pricing Standards. Initiative Statute.

Prop 62 – Death Penalty. Initiative Statute.

Prop 63 – Firearms. Ammunition Sales. Initiative Statute.

Prop 64 – Marijuana Legalization. Initiative Statute.

Prop 65 – Carry-Out Bags. Charges. Initiative Statute.

The Board did not take a position on Propositions 58 and 60.
