The community is invited to join the celebration in honor of the County’s 150th Anniversary that is being organized by the Lassen County Chamber, the County of Lassen, and the Lassen Historical Society. The event will be held on Friday, September 5, beginning at 6pm, in Memorial Park Susanville. Live music, food, drinks, and no-host bar will be available. The County Anniversary Committee has been busy preparing for this special celebration.
A special thanks to the following for their contributors to the success of event; Susanville Supermarket IGA, D&L Distributing, City of Susanville, Susanville Elks Lodge, Customer Talk, Frontier Communications, & Superior Products Company, as well as the Celebration Committee who has pulled this event together.
The event will kick off with a social hour and music by members of the Susanville Symphony Swing Band. A sesquicentennial presentation by local historian, Tim Purdy and Lassen County Supervisor, Jim Chapman will be made followed by live music featuring band ‘Fourgery’ for everyone’s dancing pleasure.
The Lassen County Historical Society will bring out the historic stage coach and pioneer wagon for attendees to enjoy. In addition, Lassen County Supervisor, Jim Chapman and historian, Tim Purdy have put together a seventy five foot timeline depicting 150 years of Lassen County history which will be displayed at the event along the park walkway.
The Susanville Elks will be on hand barbequing hotdogs, hamburgers, and chorizos which will be sold for $1.50 each in honor of the 150th Anniversary. In addition, there will be a full no- host bar. Specialty ale brewed by Lassen Ale Works, and brandy, in honor of the drinks favored by Peter Lassen and Isaac Roop will also be the featured for the evening.
