Lassen Lit Rocks holds free Functional Literacy classes every Tuesday night from 4:00 – 5:15 pm. These classes and workshops are located in the Lassen Library, 1618 Main St. You can sign up with the LassenLitRocks Adult Literacy Program 530-257-7471.

Knights of Columbus Wednesday Night Bingo. 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., dinner, 6:30 pm early bird bingo, 7:00 p.m., regular bingo games. Westwood Bingo is every Thursday night at 125 Birch St., in Westwood. $10 per ten pack of cards, $1 Quickie games and $1 Early Bird Game.

Lassen Family Services Parenting Group 9:30 – 10:30 pm at Lassen Family Services, 1306 Riverside Dr. Parenting Group classes are designed to help reduce chaos and power struggles within families. Learn an approach to parenting that is both simple and effective. All classes are free but space is limited. Please contact Heather at 530-257-4599 for more information.

4th Annual Policeman’s Ball will be held at the Elk’s Lodge from 6:30 – 11:30 p.m. Party with a purpose. Costumes, silent auction, food and fun. Honey Lake Valley Riders – Toys for Tots Benefit Playday. A fun day of gymkhana events to end the season: barrels, poles, and two other spooky events.  Plus a Halloween costume contest (including the horses).  All proceeds go to the local Toys for Tots program. Celebrate Peter Lassen and his Danish heritage. Join us in Susanville as we celebrate Peter Lassen and his Danish Heritage. Guest speakers will be Dave Freeman and author, Ken Johnston. For a small donation, Abelskivers, a Danish treat will be served. The event will be held at the Masonic Temple, 84 North Lassen St., from 2:00 – 3:00. Sponsored by the Lassen County Historical Society.

Saturday, October 28
Lassen Nursing Students Candy Dash 5k Treat Trail for Kids. Fundraiser Run to help send LCC nursing students to Belize to donate their time and skills to care for those in need of help. Free T-shirt & water. Dress up if you dare! Students will also be selling other goodies. This event will be held at Susanville Ranch Park from 10:00 – 2:00 pm and the cost is $5.00 for children under 5 and $25.00 for adults. Lassen Family Services CASA Program is looking for community members to advocate for children in the dependency court system and will offer training for new volunteers starting early November. An orientation is scheduled October 30th, from 5:30 to 7:00 pm, at the Lassen Family Services office at 1306 Riverside Drive in Susanville.
