The Lassen Humane Society is a non-profit, animal welfare organization made up entirely of volunteers. Our primary goal is to reduce animal euthanasia by promoting spay/neuter and animal adoptions. All donations and funding go toward helping animals in Lassen County. We have no animal shelter and no police powers to rescue or confiscate animals. We also have no emergency or veterinary services. Any animal control issues should be referred to local law enforcement agencies and any medical emergencies should be referred to local veterinarians.

We make them. Does your pet need one?
This is a great way to help your pet if it becomes lost!
The tags are $6.00 each, stainless steel for durability, and come in a variety of shapes:

Adopt a dog or cat from the Lassen County Animal Shelter or the Lassen Humane Society's Foster Program and receive the following:

Are you an animal lover who has a knack with people too? We have many volunteer opportunities for staffing our special events booths, helping with our fundraising activities (annual membership meeting and potluck, annual yard sale, craft fair, Rails-to-Trails festival, Children's Fair) We also need volunteers to take pictures of our animals for our Internet and newspaper advertising. If you have writing talent, we need help with our newsletter and flyers.
We are now accepting donations for our 2008 annual yard sale to be held on May 30 and 31, 2008. Please call Mary Morphis at 257-0765 to donate items in good/saleable condition. We will again offer free and reduced rate dog and cat vaccinations from V.I.P. Mobile CLinic. We will also have reduced rate micro-chipping available - more information coming soon!

Foster Care Program
Would you like to become a foster parent for our animals waiting to be adopted? Foster care providers take care of animals waiting to be adopted in their own homes and provide daily care, socialization, and basic training. The Lassen Humane Society provides food, spay or neutering, some vaccinations and medical care as funding permits. The animals remain in Lassen Humane Society custody while we work to find permanent homes through our web page, internet advertising on Petfinder.com, local newspaper advertising and promotion at local events. If you are interested in becoming a foster care provider, please call 257-4555 and request an application.
