A GoFundMe account has been established for a 4 year-old Susanville boy who was recently diagnosed with cancer and is facing a gauntlet of medical costs and travel expenses related to his treatment.
The boy whose name is Francisco, but goes by Deuce, was found to have cancer after an MRI showed abnormal results on a tumor in his thigh.
According to Deuce’s mother, Jessica Ann Devlyne, the money raised by the account will help defray travel costs and treatments not covered by their insurance.
Devlyne explained that treatments have begun to try and minimize the mass because if they can’t get it any smaller Deuce will lose his leg.
“I don’t want you to feel sorry for me, but I want you to pray,” Deuce says in a narrative on the GoFundMe page. “Pray that I will be ok and my body will have a good reaction to the treatments. Pray that I have the strength to make it through this, pray that my family stays strong during this time as well.”
“Don’t ever wait to take a family member to the Dr. when something is unusual,” says Devlyn, “and don’t let them take their time treating it, because it could be life threatening.
