A SusanvilleStuff Gallery
by Marshel and Jeremy Couso
Lassen Family Service’s CASA Program teamed up with Susanville Police Officers’ Association to host a Superhero 5K fundraiser in Susanville’s Memorial Park on Sunday. Participants dressed up in superhero attire for a fun run through the streets of town, escorted by a procession of emergency vehicles.
CASA of Lassen Family Services’ mission is to provide specially selected and trained community volunteers to advocate for abused and neglected children in Lassen County’s juvenile dependency system. The group works as a non-profit program under the umbrella agency of Lassen Family Services, in collaboration with key agencies, legal counsel and community resources to ensure that each child’s best interests are protected.
The focus of CASA’s advocacy is on the following areas:
· Placement
· Education
· Mental/medical health
· Permanency
Another goal of the CASA program is to educate the community regarding the great need for CASA volunteers. CASA is committed to advocating for each dependent child’s best interests and believe their mission will be accomplished when each dependent child has secured a safe permanent home.
