The Lassen County Arts Council is inviting everybody to a gallery reception for local photographer Lydia Baertschiger Tuesday evening, November 11th, at 5:30 in the Arts Council’s gallery, 807 Cottage Street Susanville. Baertschiger’s artwork will be on display during at the gallery during the month of November.
“Photography has been my interest for many years,” says Baertschiger, whose work has appeared in a variety of books and magazines.
“When I lived in Europe the only way to take something momentous with you was by taking pictures. Lassen County has been my home for 38 years – the beautiful landscape is what fascinates my interest more for photography.”
My hobby developed more as I showed an interest in various photography seminars.
Baertschiger explained that in earlier years she learned how to develop black and color film at the college from Warren Chapman. Now, she says, it is hard to find a company who will develop your film.
“I have enjoyed entering photographs in several contests,” said Baertschiger, “and taking pictures for state and district functions and for local organizations.”
“I’m more a nature photographer – enjoying taking pictures of my first spring flowers or the birds on their flight, rainbows, lightening, and landscapes.”
Refreshments will be served.
