Lassen County’s coolest little town celebrated it’s logging heritage this weekend with the annual Paul Bunyan Days Festival. The two-day event is organized by the Westwood Area Chamber of Commerce and includes a street dance, live blues acts, a logging competition, a 5k run and a parade!

The name of the festival comes from the giant woodsman Paul Bunyan who, along with his big blue ox Babe, roamed the Lassen forests around Westwood during the heyday of the Red River Lumber. Bunyan and the folk-tale legends from the forest became mascots for the lumber company.
