policeupdate3A 55-year old Susanville resident has been arrested and more than 30 firearms seized after a search warrant was served at a residence on Shasta Street Monday afternoon.

On September 19th, according to Police Lieutenant Matt Wood, officers from the Susanville Police Department, along with members of the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office, served a search warrant at 704 Shasta Street.

“During the ensuing search of the residence,” explained Lieutenant Wood, “over 30 firearms were located on the premises and seized.”

According to police, two of the recovered firearms were previously reported stolen from Honey Lake Firearms. Several other weapons that were located had also been previously reported stolen and were related to an ongoing investigation by the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office.

Over half a pound of methamphetamine, along with over $4,500 in cash, was also seized from the residence.

A marijuana grow was located in the backyard of the Shasta Street home consisting of more than 25 plants. The plants were removed and destroyed per the city ordinance banning all marijuana grows within the city limits.

Courtney Eames Jr. was contacted at the residence during execution of the search warrant and was arrested on a felony warrant out of Lassen County stemming from a prior, separate incident. Eames was booked into the Lassen County Jail on several charges on the warrant which included assault with a firearm, shooting at a vehicle and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Eames was held on $100,000 bail.

Due to the poor condition of the property the residence was declared uninhabitable by the City Building Inspector and posted as such.

The Susanville Police Department was assisted during this investigation by the Lassen County District Attorney’s Office, Lassen County Child and Family Services, the City of Susanville Building and Planning Department and the City of Susanville Public Works Department.

The case has been referred to the Lassen County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
