It’s peak-produce time here in Lassen County and during these last weeks of Summer it’s important to remember all the fresh, local bounty available at the Lassen Land and Trails Trust’s Farmers’ Market! In addition to all the fresh-baked, savory breads, cinnamon rolls, cookies, cake pops, brownies and more, the market hosts a diverse group of vendors with many specialty items.
Each week, talented farmers, crafters and bakers come to the market at Susanville’s Historic Railroad Depot to offer artisan smoked meats, grass-fed lamb and beef, chicken, eggs and garden fresh fruit and vegetables. Handmade tamales seasoned with chilies and spices are available for lunch and pecan-cinnamon rolls and coffee from Susanville Starbucks make the perfect breakfast if you’re an early riser.
Not sure what to do with all of the bounty? Visit www.lasssenlandandtrailstrust.org/farmer-s-market.html for Farmers’ Market recipes, such as Cowboy Caviar (Bean Salsa) and Tomato-Basil Bruschetta.
Our market has been fantastic this year and it is peak production time for our Lassen County farmers through the end of August, September and October.
Markets are held between 8:00a.m. and noon every Saturday through September 27th, at the historic Railroad Depot, 601 Richmond Road in Susanville.
