Dr. Bateson’s Weather Corner: April Numbers Fall Short of Average

The precipitation numbers are in for the month of April and Dr. Owen Bateson, Susanville’s meteorological expert says it could be worse – but it could be a lot better.

According to Bateson’s measurements we received .47 inches during April,Ā but weĀ should have had 1.16 inches based on historical averages. InsteadĀ April only finished atĀ 40% of average.

“ThatĀ brings the yearly total to 13.45 inches and 69% of average for this date,” explains Bateson. “It’s interesting that having only 40% of average for the month only dropped our yearly percentage from 70% at the end of March to 69% at the end of April.
