The City of Susanville has received notification from the State of California Department of Parks and Recreation that the City has been awarded $2,129,000 for the Sierra Community Park Project.
According to a press release from City Hall, Susanville was one of 64 towns selected for funding from a pool of more than 400 applications through the Proposition 84 program.
The 17.5-acre park project, located at 925 Sierra Road, will include a playground for toddlers, picnic area with barbecues, a stage and amphitheater area, several sport fields, a walking path with benches, restrooms and plenty of parking.
City Staff will attend a workshop on April 19th in Sacramento to review the administrative process, audit requirements and contract obligations necessary to receive the funding.
