CHP: Petaluma Man Dies in Highway 36 Rollover

A Petaluma man was killed Friday in a single vehicle accident on Highway 36, east of Morgan Summit.

According to a report from CHP Public Information Officer Samuel Glucklich, the 52 year-old driver of a 2004 Chevrolet pickup was traveling eastbound on Highway 36 at approximately 78 mph.

The pickup was entering a left hand curve as a marked CHP unit was travelling in the opposite direction.

Upon seeing the patrol vehicle, says the report, the driver of the pickup swerved to the right, across the gravel shoulder and collided with the hillside.

Now out of control, the vehicle traveled back across the roadway and down an embankment where it collided with a tree and overturned, coming to rest on its roof.

The driver, who was wearing his seatbelt, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.Ā His nameĀ is still being withheld. Ā
