CHP Incident: Reno Man Arrested for DUI After Being Clocked at 114 MPH on Highway 395

A 24-year old Reno resident was arrested for DUI Monday evening after a CHP officer used radar to clock him driving 114MPH near Milford on Highway 395, pulled him over near Country Road A-3 and discovered an open bottle of Whiskey in the vehicle.

According to details released by the Susanville office of the California Highway Patrol, the agency received a 9-1-1 call reporting a reckless driver traveling northbound on US-395 near the Pozzulan Plant, north of Hallelujah Junction, shortly after 7:00p.m.

The caller told CHP that a blue Ford Mustang had passed him and two other vehicles around a blind corner at a speed he estimated to be at least 100MPH.

A CHP officer responded and located the vehicle south of Desert Pine Trail near Milford where he obtained a radar reading of 114MPH on the blue Mustang.

The CHP unit pursued the Mustang and observed the suspect, identified as Reno, Nevada, resident Jacob L. Brown, passing over double yellow lines.

“After several miles,” explains CHP Public Information Officer Kristen Wilburn, “the officer caught up with the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop near County Road A-3.”

Upon contact, according to the report, the officer observed signs of possible alcohol impairment. After a series of Field Sobriety Tests, the suspect was arrested for DUI.

While searching the vehicle the officer located an open bottle of Whiskey on the right front floorboard.

The CHP reminds the public to call 911 if unsafe or erratic driving is observed.
