Cedric Trejo

Cedric Trejo was born on June 15, 1975. He was born to Gaylene Potts (Charlie) and Kenneth Damon Trejo Sr., in Fall River, California, where he joined his older brother Kenneth Jr. He was later raised in Greenville, California and then in Westwood, California by his mother and father, Darrell Heffley, and the family welcomed little brother, Timothy Heffley.

Cedric attended school in Westwood, California from kindergarten through 12th grade, graduating in 1994. His favorite sport while in grade school was Little League. Later in high school he played one year of JV basketball, one year of varsity basketball, one year varsity football, and one year of speech and drama. He also pursued track and field, which he constantly trained for by running numerous hours through and around Westwood. He mostly enjoyed spending time outdoors camping and fishing with his brothers Kenny and Timothy, and his friends.

Cedric worked seasonal jobs with the forest service while in high school and as a young adult. When Cedric’s mother remarried and moved to Schurz, Nevada, Cedric and his brother Kenny followed. Cedric worked as a coach for Rite of Passage Charter School for several years. Cedric and Kenny then relocated to Burney, California where they got to know Kenneth Sr. and their grandmother, Vivian Hinze, and their numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

After several years of living in Burney, California, Cedric and Kenny traveled back to Schurz, Nevada, and then eventually relocated back to Susanville, California. Cedric could be seen with his sidekick, Jack, in and around Susanville, visiting friends and picking up aluminum cans. After working as a handyman, Cedric purchased a bicycle for him and Jack. Cedric would be seen pedaling his bicycle with Jack in his basket.

Cedric was taken from us in the early morning hours on February 10, 2014. He was taken from us too soon, but he joins his maternal grandparents, Willis and Pauline Potts, his father Kenneth Trejo Sr., paternal grandparents Paul and Vivian Hinze, also it is grandparents Grady and Artie Heffley of Fall River, California.

Cedric is survived by his mother and stepfather Gaylene and Bret Charlie, brothers- Kenneth Damon Trejo Jr. of Schurz Nevada, and Timothy Heffley (Emily) of Westwood California, his father-Darrell Heffley of Fall River Mills, California, sisters-Kennicia and Kendr Trejo both of Redding, California, aunts Rosa Castaneda, Jeannie Quinn, Carlene Aburey, Debra Jackson, Sue Reynolds, Pam Heffley, Pat Heffley, Nema Sides, Noma Bums, Rena Archuletta, Paulette Shelby, and Phyllis Rose. Uncles-Frank Potts, Gene Potts, Matt Potts, Arron Potts, Bobby Trejo, Kenny Heffley, Pauline Hinze, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A viewing will be held on February 21, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Fire Hall in Greenville, CA. Services will be held on February 22, 2014 at 11:00 am. Officiating will be Pastor Leo Smith & Pastor Gloria Smith. Internment following services at Chico Jim Cemetery in Greenville, CA.
