Busy Weekend in Susanville as Holiday Season Gets Underway

busyholidayweekendIt’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Susanville and this weekend is packed with event after event to help celebrate the season. Craft fairs, fireworks, parades, live performances and the festival of lights are just a few of the fun things on the calendar this Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Fairgrounds Craft Fair

The Lassen County Fair’s annual Holiday Craft Fair is a huge two-day event featuring everything from hand-crafted wooden toys to homemade maple syrup and steam punk jewelry. It is the perfect place to shop for that hard-to-buy-for person on your Christmas shopping list.

Crafters fill up several buildings on the fairgrounds with great gift ideas.

This year Santa will be on hand for pictures with the kids! Remember to bring your camera for a great photo opportunity.

The show opens on Friday, December 1st from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday, December 2nd doors will be open from 10:00 to 3:00 p.m.

Also at the fairgrounds is the 28th annual Lassen Family Services and the California Correctional Center Victims of Crime Hobby Craft Fair and Auction.

You can find something for everyone while helping out a good cause; clocks, toys, belt buckles, redwood jewelry boxes, benches, picnic tables and a redwood playhouse are just some of the handmade items.

Camp inmates donated their own time and supplies to produce craft items.

All of the donated hobby crafts will be displayed at the fairgrounds this Friday and Saturday as part of the Lassen County Fair’s holiday craft fair; on Friday, December 1st from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, December 2nd from 10:00 to 3:00 p.m. The live auction begins at 1:00 Saturday afternoon.

 Blue Star Moms Old Fashion Country Christmas Crafts Faire

On both Friday, December 1st  and Saturday, December 2nd the Soaring Eagle Blue Star Moms Old Fashioned Country Christmas Craft Faire will be held at the Veteran’s Hall 1205 Main St. Friday will from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Saturday will be 10:00 – 3:00 p.m. The funds from the booth space will go to the Blue Star Moms to assist them with their activities on behalf of our military. There will be ornaments, wood, glass, ceramics, needlepoint, jewelry and a host of other unique gifts to buy.

Festival of Lights

Friday, Saturday and Sundays throughout December the Lassen County Fair is hosting its ‘Holiday Festival of Lights’ exhibition at the fairgrounds.

The displays are built by different local groups, organizations and individuals for the public to drive through and ‘oooooh and ahhhhhhh’ at during the season. The massive display of holiday cheer is also a stop on the annual Senior Light Tour.

Friday and Saturday gates are open 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. On Sunday gates are open 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Drive thru the fairway and see holiday light displays, donations are accepted.

Westwood celebrates the holidays Friday night with Christmas in the Mountains. Come rain, shine or snow storm, everyone is invited to the community center at 6:00 p.m. to watch the lighting of the tree followed by a light parade celebrating the arrival of Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus, after which Santa wants to meet all the children of Westwood. There will be photos with Santa at the Community Center along with crafts and food vendors.

Magical Country Christmas

The Magical Country Christmas in uptown Susanville. The biggest holiday celebration in Lassen County! Saturday,  December 2nd from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., in Historic Uptown Susanville. Come and enjoy a parade, live entertainment, food and beverages.

Assembly of God Holiday Craft Fair

Susanville Assembly of God Church will be holding their Christmas Bazaar on Friday from 4:00 -8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 – 3:00 p.m. It’s a perfect place to find a one of a kind Christmas gift.

Christmas at the Ranch

Christmas at the Ranch. Shop for unique Christmas gifts from local crafters at the Doyle Ranch Gift Shop. The shop is open on Fridays and Saturdays from 9:00 – 4:00 pm, and Sundays from 9:00 until 2:00 pm. Westwood Christmas Bazaar

The Westwood Chamber of Commerce invites you to shop for the holidays from 1:00 – 4:00 pm at the Westwood Community Center Corner of 3rd and Birch on Sunday, December 3rd.
