Breaking News: Bates Arrested Without Incident on McDow Street

breakingnewsThe Lassen County Sheriff’s Office announced shortly after 9:00p.m. that David Richard Bates – wanted for the shooting death of a Susanville man –  was arrested without incident at 8:50 tonight on McDow Street in Susanville.

According to LCSO Captain Kevin Jones the suspect was arrested by personnel from the Sheriff’s Office with assistance from members of the Fugitive Recovery Team from the California Department of Corrections.

“Although he tried to conceal himself,” Jones explained, “once discovered he did not resist efforts to be arrested by law enforcement personnel on the scene.”

Bates will be held at the Lassen County Jail on a No Bail parole hold and a $1,000,000 arrest warrant for Murder.

Although Bates is in custody, the investigation will be ongoing.

Captain Jones thanked the California Department of Corrections, Susanville Police Department, California Fish and Game, Lassen County DA’s Office, California Highway Patrol Susanville Area, CHP Flight Operations out of Redding and CalFire for their assistance in this investigation.

“Our appreciation goes to our media partners for helping us keep the community informed and the entire community for all the information we received over the last 24 hours,” said Jones.
