Lassen County community members can rest assured their lab results from Banner Lassen Medical Center exceed industry standards with a recent laboratory accreditation by COLA, a highly-regarded, national health care accreditation organization.
Accreditation is given only to laboratories that apply high standards of quality in day-to-day operations, show continued accuracy in testing and pass a rigorous on-site laboratory survey. Banner Lassen has earned COLA accreditation as a result of a long-term commitment to provide quality service and accurate data to patients.
Every two years, Banner Lassen must undergo the two-day inspection which thoroughly reviews documentation and training materials, quality control, policies and procedures as well as proficiency testing. Receiving the COLA Accreditation validates Banner Lassen’s personnel, instruments and systems so there is high degree of confidence and information when the lab delivers test results to patients and health care providers.
“Labs are important because 70 to 80 percent of doctors’ decisions are made from lab data. At Banner Lassen, we live for keeping track of those details,” said Lee Asnin, labs senior manager.
“We are able to meet and exceed these COLA standards because of our inclusion in Banner Health’s hospital system which provides us access to capital, resources, state-of-the-art equipment and technology for providing doctors with the most accurate data. We hope that by receiving this COLA Accreditation, the community can feel reassured that we are producing quality diagnostic data for better patient results and medical decisions.”
COLA is a nonprofit, physician-directed organization promoting quality and excellence in medicine and patient care through programs of voluntary education, achievement and accreditation.
