Assembly Republican Leader Brian Dahle welcomed representatives from Interfaith Food Ministry to the State Capitol on June 6th, to honor them as the 2018 Nonprofit of the Year. Interfaith Food Ministry began in 1987 and has served more than 700,000 seniors, families and single adults who are food insecure in Nevada County.

“Interfaith Food Ministry serves as proof that dedication to a good cause can be incredibly powerful,” said Dahle. “I am proud to honor them for providing an invaluable service by feeding people in our community who are in need of support.”

Interfaith Food Ministry is sustained entirely by private donations and the hard work from their 450 volunteers. Last year, the organization provided meals to 2,002 children and 7,793 individuals who were food insecure.

With their recent move to a new, bigger facility, Interfaith Food Ministry is now able to receive and store more food in order to provide good health and human dignity to people in need.
