Artist David Holsey to be Featured at Arts Council Gallery Reception

Artwork by local artist David Holsey will be on display at the Lassen County Arts Council’s gallery on Cottage Street during the month of February, and the Council has a big reception planned for Tuesday, February 9th.

A musician for the past 50 years, David Holsey has expanded his artistic interests to include painting and drawing. After retiring, David studied art at Lassen College and continues to develop as an artist.

He participated in a visual arts presentation at Lassen College in 2010 and has previously displayed his artwork at the Lassen County Arts Council in January 2011, March 2012, and October 2013. He has shown his artwork at a local law office for the past two summers. David also illustrated a book of poetry written by Art Porter for the Lassen County Historical Society, finding inspiration for the illustrations from the poetry itself.

David finds inspiration for his oil paintings from his studies, his travels, and our local landscapes. David’s drawings of trees and flowers reflect the influence of his studies in Asian art and printmaking.

David works on his art every day, spending hours in his home studio. He also continues to play music and plans to pursue his artistic interests for the rest of his life.

Everyone is invited to attend the gallery opening at 807 Cottage Street, February 9th, beginning at 5:30p.m.
