An October Frightmare From Lassen College Basketball

Picture your friends and yourself on a Friday or Saturday night in October walking through a dark, creepy forest.

It’s completely dark, and the twenty-five foot trees glistening in the full moon seem to have a life of their own as they sway with the evening breeze.

Your group of friends decide to keep on walking through this mysterious patch of trees when all of a sudden out of the trees jumps a seven foot, mouth full of fangs werewolf! You scream only to be startled by Freddie Krueger from Nightmare on Elm Street!

This of course would be out of the ordinary on any other night, but this is the kind of terror you will encounter if you are brave enough to attend the 1st Annual Frightmare Forest put on by the Lassen College men’s and women’s basketball programs.

The Frightmare Forest will take place every Friday and Saturday in October from 8-11pm. The location is the 25+ acres of trees located at 472-120 Richmond Road.

Parking is available and free of charge. There are two mazes “Cinema Psychos”, and “Frightmare Forest”. Each maze is $5, or do both for $8. There is also a Carnival area with prize games for prices to be determined.

A fundraiser and all proceeds go to the Lassen College men’s and women’s basketball programs. Ages are recommended 7+ for the mazes, unless parent approved. Costumes are not allowed in the mazes, but are welcomed in the Carnival area.

Devin Aye, the new men’s basketball coach at Lassen College says, “This is a great way for us to get out into the community and offer a safe, seasonal event that everyone can enjoy. It is also a great opportunity for the public to get up close and personal with the student athletes, and for us develop a fan base at our basketball games starting in November.”

“This is always something I have wanted to do. I am a big Halloween fan, and I think this is something the town will really enjoy as long as they enjoy the spirit of the Halloween season and being frightened. Be prepared to scream and have a blast in those trees. It promises to be a scary night in the Frightmare Forest!”
