A New Flag Pole for the City Fire Hall

Boy Scout Carson Friedline of Susanville, member of Susanville Elks/Kiwanis Troop 159, is in the midst of a project that is bringing a brand new flag pole to the front of the Main street fire hall.

The new 30-foot flag pole replaces a pole which was the ‘slide pole’ from the original fire station in Susanville and will be mounted inside the fire hall.

Carson and his crew have worked for the last two weekends and plan to have the new pole in place for the ceremonies marking the tenth anniversary of the destruction of the World Trade Center in New York.

Saturday morning the scouts poured the footing for the new pole and the decorative base.

While the scouts prepare the ground Fire Chief Ted Friedline and Battalion Chief James Moore check the measurements.

Carson's crew pitches in to get the forms ready to pour cement.

Chief Friedline, Chief Moore and Scout Carson Friedline make sure the base is plumb.

The boys watch as the cement truck fills the forms.
