What ideas do you have for Lassen County’s future? The Lassen County Board of Supervisors has initiated an update of the County’s General Plan, the comprehensive strategy that guides long-term development in the County.
The update will focus on four primary areas of the county; Susanville and Johnstonville, Janesville and Milford, Standish and Litchfield and Herlong and Doyle.
The County is holding four community visioning meetings over a two-day period next week in different geographic areas.
The purpose of these meetings will be to gain community input about the direction the region will grow over the next decade.

Two Historic Events Slated In Susanville
April 17th, 1960
Two events of interest to Susanville and Lassen County will take place Sunday in Susanville's Memorial Park.
One of these events is the opening to the public of the new William H. Pratt Memorial Museum at the site of historic Roop's Fort. The other event is the dedication of a new bronze and stone monument commemorating the Noble Emigrant Trail, a covered wagon route to which Susanville owes its existence.
Both ceremonies will be conducted under the auspices of the Lassen County Historical Society.
First on the program for the day will be the museum opening at 2 o'clock. Following this everyone will witness the unveiling of the monument. At the conclusion of the dedication ceremonies all will be invited to refreshments and open house at the museum.
William H. Pratt planned the emigrant trail monument before his death, Feb. 3. This brilliant young geologist and engineer devoted the last six years of his life to Lassen County. Himself of pioneer stock (four generations of the Pratt family were born in California), Bill Pratt strove to preserve the heritage of the county, recognizing it as an integral part of the great American heritage.
Because he knew the value of self respect, he wanted the young people of Susanville to know the background of their community and to take pride in it.
When the William H. Noble Emigrant Trail Monument is unveiled spectators will be taken back more than 100 years in history to a day when heavy-wheeled covered wagons stopped along Paiute Creek.
They will envisage the pioneers climbing down, brushing off the dust, and going up to the log house that was Lassen County's first building, to buy provisions from Isaac Roop, Lassen County's first business man.
