City Hall Annex Bids Considered
April 8th, 1950
Construction of the new city hall annex will start next week.
Taylor and Roberts was low with a bid of $18,875 for the two-story pumice block building, when the city council opened three bids Monday night at a regular meeting.
The annex will provide two offices, one for the city building inspector and one for the city engineer on the first floor. The second floor will be a meeting room.
In addition to the building, a 30-ft. hose tower will be constructed for the fire department.
Four petitions signed by 120 Susanville citizens were submitted to the council asking that an anti-gambling ordinance be passed. The petitions were circulated by four churches; the Methodist, LDS, the Seventh Day Adventists and the First Baptist.
Mrs. Grant Poulsen of the LDS church appeared before the council to present the cases for the group. The council delayed decision on the matter.
