More than 60 members of the Lassen High Alumni Association came together Tuesday night for a potluck dinner and recognition of Bob Middleton as the organization’s 2009 ‘Honorary Member’.
Middleton, who attended the dinner with his wife Virginia, was presented with a special plaque, a “Rays from the Purple” CD and a membership card.
Also attending the dinner were honorees from previous years; Bob Levada who was made an Honorary Alumnus in 2007 and Speed Stevenson who was inducted last year.

Middleton worked at Lassen High as a teacher and guidance counselor for almost 10 years, leaving that position to become an administrator at Lassen Community College in 1970.
After retiring from Lassen College Middleton served for four years on Susanville’s City Council and spent a year in Ethiopia teaching English to 7th and 8th graders.
Middleton and his wife still enjoy travelling and have visited every continent except for South America.
Thanks to Kim Brown from the Alumni Association for sending us the information.

1986 Lassen High graduate Mike Wall has been honored as the Sacramento Bee’s Coach of the Year.
For the last 11 years Wall has been a head boy’s basketball coach, first at Foothill and then at Folsom high schools.
In a story published in the Bee yesterday Wall is credited with an amazing list of accomplishments during his years of coaching; his teams have made the playoffs every year, his teams have never had a losing season and just this month Wall led the Folsom Bulldogs to a championship title, as they overcame a horrible start to beat Elk Grove at Arco Arena.

|
Wall ran track and played baseball while at Lassen and his father, Bob Wall, was a long time coach at the high school. To read the complete story from the Bee’s Prep Blog click here.
