The Chamber office is a busy place this week as the Sheriff’s work crew helps repair and paint the outside of the building.
The work crew will also help make improvements around the building grounds, including planting new grass, staining fences, and repairing flower boxes; please bear with us as we have these maintenance projects done. The office will still be open from 9am to 4pm each day.
Don’t forget to forward event information to us if your organization or business has a special event planned in 2009 so that it can be added to the Chamber’s Community Calendar. This is a free service provided to the entire community.
For a complete list of events planned in Lassen County log on to www.lassencountychamber.org and click on event calendar located on the left hand side of the home page.
The Chamber is coordinating the 3rd Annual Spring Home and Garden Show on Saturday, April 25, 2009, that event will be held at the Lassen County Fairgrounds.
The fee to participate is $25.00 for chamber members /or $35.00 for non-members per 10’x10’ booth space. If you have a business that relates to the home and garden and would like to participate contact the Chamber at 257-4323 to have an application and more information forwarded to you.
The event is free for the public to attend and has been well attend in past years. Thank you to our Spring Home and Garden Show event sponsors for their generous support of this year’s event; Homme’s Landscape, Plumas Bank, the Sierra Radio Network, Superior Products Company, and LMUD.

New Conservation Center to Boost Lassen Economy
March 24th, 1961
Susanville’s economy will receive a boost in excess of $3,000,000 a year from wages and purchase when the new conservation center is in full operation in 1962.
The information was released in a taped radio interview between State Senator Stanley Arnold (D), Susanville and Fred Engle, deputy director of the department of corrections, in charge of the conservation division.
Arnold and Engle said there will be more than 200 salaried positions in the center, 140 of which will be concerned with inmate supervision and 110 or more with maintenance, cooking, education, administration and hospital care.
According to the building contractors, progress on construction is up to schedule and they will be able to meet the date of completion slated for June 30, 1962.
There will be no housing on the installation for permanent personnel, although there will be a barracks type installation for visiting corrections personnel.
