The “FED-UP With Cancer” Relay for Life team held their quilt drawing Tuesday evening at Idaho Market.
The gorgeous quilt, hand-crafted and donated by Susan Wannabo, was won by Mary Laws. The raffle made a total of $393 for the “FED-UP” team and the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.
The team would like to thank all of the supporters and especially Sue Noggles who provided the funds for the quilt backing.

This week’s featured recipe from Mrs Couso’s Community Cookbook was sent to us by Terri Andersen, who says it is her Grandmother’s recipe and it is the "greatest zucchini bread ever."
Terri says that every summer as soon as there are zucchinis big enough to cook with in the garden all the kids take Grandma a batch to make bread with.
If you have a recipe and story to send us we would love to hear from you. Just click here to visit our recipe submission page.
New recipes are added to the cookbook every day and we would love to see what you have cooking.

This is a follow up to our day in history from March 2nd, 2009 titled “Brainwashing rumored... Susanville, Nevada? ‘Yes!’ Says Council'
Prepare to Repel Invaders
March 19th, 1959
Nevada lawmakers are making preparations to host a contingent of California legislators and their wives for a showdown on the border dispute between the two states.
Sparked by Assemblyman Don Crawford (D Washoe), Nevada is staking claim to a strip of California land estimated between 20,000 and 40,000 square miles on the east slopes of the Sierra. The neighboring state has rejected Nevada's claim but accepted a challenge offered by Lt. Gov. Rex Bell to settle the issue.
Bell offered to settle the issue with clubs in Reno - golf clubs that is, on the Hidden Valley Country Club course. The challenge was immediately taken up by California's Lieutenant Governor Glenn Anderson.
Several non-athletic Nevada senators objected to becoming involved in such a fracas. Instead, they maintained the two lieutenant governors should fight a duel. Washoe County’s senator Peter Echeverria even offered to write a provision in the state's dueling law to exempt the president of the senate. Bell turned down Sen. Echeverria's offer by saying the issue was bigger than any one individual and all elected representatives should take an active hand in the defense of their state.
Many of the communities in the disputed territory encouraged the Nevada legislature. Bishop, California, sent a telegram to Bell asking for application blanks to the national guard and declared a state of semi-emergency. Susanville readied the ancient cannon on display in front of the court house and formed a militia to man the weapons.
The actual battle will take place on the golf links with the respective governors, Gran Sawyer of Nevada paired of against California's Edmund G. 'Pat’ Brown. The wives of the two top executives will also be paired in a golf contest. The vanguard of the California invasion force will arrive in Reno shortly before 11 o'clock Saturday morning. A plane bearing the secretary of the California senate, the clerk of the assembly, their wives and a large contingent of California newsmen will arrive at that time. California legislators, arriving in a giant plane a few minutes later, will be greeted by a band and color guard.
The visitors then will be escorted by the Nevada legislators and the state's chief executive to Hidden Valley Country Club for luncheon. The golf tournament, putting and driving contests, and other competition will follow. The next social event will be a cocktail party, followed by dinner with entertainment and dancing. The final shot in the border war will be fired at 1 p.m. Sunday when the California and Nevada legislators will be guests of Harold’s Club for a luncheon. The entire seventh floor of the club will be devoted to that event.
