The Lassen High School Drill Team is hosting a Totally 80's Reverse Dance on March 21, 2009.

In the spirit of keeping costs down, they will have a dress exchange where students can "shop" for that special 80's prom dress, you know the one with the big bow, teal taffeta, and sequins?

If you'd like to clean your closets and help a teenager bring the 80's back to life, bring your 80's prom wear to the Lassen High main office or call Shelley Bennett at 251-1187 to arrange for pick up.

SitSpot Canine Center’s first ‘Dog's Day Out’ event will happen this Saturday in the Commercial Building at the Lassen County Fairgrounds.

The day will begin at 8:00am with a puppy party followed by the beginning Family dog class, teach your dog to walk on a leash class, rally games, and a recall race.

Every registered dog will be eligible for prizes. Preregistration is recommended as class sizes are limited. $15 for the first class, $10 for each additional class.

Call SitSpot at 257-3161 or stop by the kennel 472-380 Johnstonville Road for schedule and preregistration. Click here to visit SitSpot Canine online.

Meter Plan Is Defended By Attorney
Susanville Battle Over Devices Continues
February 19th, 1957

Donald P. Cady, attorney for the city of Susanville, in a statement issued last week, declared he is convinced the action of the city council in entering into a trial lease agreement for installation of parking meters was entirely legal.

Cady's statement followed a statement by Harold L. Abbott, attorney for a group seeking a special election for removal of the meters in which it was charged that the agreement was illegal and also that the council was permitting expenditures of public funds illegally and unlawfully.  The city council last week took no action on the petition asking for a special election on whether parking meters should be retained.

At that time City Attorney Cady had advised, following receipt of a letter from the Deputy Attorney General of California, that the mere filing of the separate pieces of paper listing numerous signatures in no way indicated the relationship to the petition could not be considered a part of the petition.

During last week Abbott filed with the city clerk affidavits that the signatures filed were a part of the petition and also an additional petition containing what he believes to be a sufficient number of names to meet the legal requirements for the calling of a special election.
