The Lassen High Football Boosters Club, in conjunction with the Diamond Mountain Hotel and Casino, will be holding a spaghetti dinner fundraiser this Thursday evening to raise funds for the renovation of Arnold Field.

The press box at the field was built in the 1960’s and has had no improvements in the intervening 40 years and the bathrooms located on the grounds are by no means fully adequate to handle the large crowds during sports activities.

Arnold Field is not only used for LHS football but also youth football, field hockey,  graduation,  soccer and more.

Projects to be undertaken this summer include construction of a new press box, modifications to the sound system and remodeling of the bathrooms.

Last year the Grizzly Football Boosters spent almost $5,000 replacing the turf on the field. The boosters also purchase the uniforms for the high school's three football teams.

The fundraiser will be held this Thursday evening in the Diamond Willow Room at the Diamond Mountain Hotel and Casino from 5:00 to 9:00. Tickets are five dollars.  For more information call 257-8006.

Susanville Asks for Diagonal Parking
Businessmen Blast Parallel System
February 3rd, 1952

A return to angle parking on Main street was urged by a group of Susanville businessmen when they met last week with the city council.  As a result of the meeting, petitions are now being circulated, asking the state department of public works to approve such a step.

The businessmen's committee is comprised of Elton S. Millar, Ardel Torrey, Cutler Porter, Bob Davis and A.J. Anderson.

They asked the council to repeat its procedure of a year ago, when the city submitted a tentative ordinance calling for angle parking on Main street, to the state department of public works. It was rejected by the state agency.

The state public works division has authority over Main street traffic because the street actually is highway 36 through Susanville.  It was the committee's stand that a new demand, backed by public opinion and the necessary petitions probably would cause the state to reverse itself.  The businessmen also said that the state is no longer "putting pressure" on the city to maintain parallel parking on the street.

Though it was tentatively decided to make another appeal to the department of public works, the council refused to permit angle parking while the appeal is pending.
