About 50 members and their guests attended the Susanville Chamber of Commerce dinner held in the banquet room of the Hotel Mt. Lassen Thursday night.

Susanville in Midst of Banana Price War
January 30th, 1929

"Yes, we have no bananas," is hardly an appropriate refrain here.  The city is surfeit with them.  For Susanville awoke recently to find independent and chain grocery stores in a banana price war.

Banana prices dropped to one cent a pound or seventy-five cents for the great bundles that dangle over the fruit stands. Two stores sold more than a carload of bananas in two days.  Susanville is enjoying this war, but is becoming oh so tired of bananas!
