Lassen County Chamber of Commerce Update

The Chamber will celebrate the 121st Annual Membership Gathering and Awards Night on Friday, January 30th at the Susanville Elk’s Lodge, beginning at 6pm.
The evening will include introduction of 2009 officers and board members. 2008 award recipients will be honored and will include announcement of “Volunteer of the Year”, “Chamber Member of the Year” and “Chamber Business of the Year”.
In appreciation of Chamber business members, each business membership will receive 2 free tickets to attend; addition tickets are $10.00 per person. The Chamber membership and the community are encouraged to attend; for more information or to RSVP contact the Chamber at 257-4323.

The Chamber office will be relocating to 75 North Weatherlow, formally the City of Susanville Park and Rec. office, beginning Monday, January 26th. If you have driven by, you may have noticed a lot of activity there as the sheriff’s crew has helped to repaint the inside and the outside of the building. Please bear with us as we make the move; we hope to be back up and operating by Monday, February 2nd. The Chamber’s phone, fax, and mailing address will remain the same. We will have the office up and running by the first week of February.
If your club or business has selected event dates for 2009 please forward the information to the Chamber so that we can add it to the Community Calendar of Events. Listing your event on the calendar helps avoid scheduling conflicts and helps to keep everyone informed about your event. The information can be emailed to director@lassencountychamber.org , faxed to 251-2561 or call 257-4323. Tickets are now on sale for the 22nd Annual “A Taste of Beef, A Sip of Wine” event hosted by the Lassen County Cattlemen and Cattlewomen. Tickets can be purchased from any Cattlewomen’s member, the Pardner, or at the Chamber office; presale tickets are $25.00 per person. The event will be Friday, February 6, 2009 and will be held at the Susanville Elk’s Lodge, from 5:30 to 8:30pm. For more information you can contact Melissa at 251-8900.

Inspection Set For Prison Site
January 28th, 1954
Members of the California public works board will make an inspection of the proposed Lassen county site for a state medium security prison next Saturday morning.
The site to be inspected is the Ithiburn ranch ten miles east of Susanville. On Saturday afternoon the board will hold a public hearing at the Memorial hall, at which time statements will be heard from individuals and groups favoring the location of the prison in Lassen county, as well as those opposed to the proposed location.
The group making the inspection trip will total 18, and they will travel by chartered bus. The party will conduct an inspection hearing on a Butte county site on Friday. State Senator Dale Williams of Alturas and Assemblywoman Pauline Davis of Portola are expected to be here Saturday.
