The Susanville Symphony Society will be hosting a ‘Survivor’ premiere party and fundraiser at the Susanville Elks Hall on February 12th from 6:00 until 9:00pm.

The Symphony Society will have four televisions set up in the Elks Hall for viewing of the premiere episode of Survivor featuring Symphony Artistic Director Ben Wade.

There will be door prizes, raffle items, an immunity challenge and best of all a ‘Survivor’ costume contest!

The cost of the event is $20 per person and will include a taco, bean and rice dinner.  You can purchase tickets at Leslie's Jewelry, 700 Main Street, or for more information call 257-2920.

Munitions Depot Assured for Lassen
January 27th, 1942

According to information received from Washington, the war department has approved the establishment of a munitions depot in eastern Honey Lake valley.

The project is to be known as the Sierra Ordnance Depot, which will include approximately twenty five thousand acres of land, commencing at the highwater line of Honey Lake and extending easterly.  Hackstaff will be one of the railroad stations.

Construction is to begin immediately, with headquarters established on the job.  Eight hundred and fifty structures of various types will be built on the project at a cost of between fifteen and twenty million dollars, and five to eight thousand men will be employed during the period of construction.
