Susanville Police Chief Tom Downing today released details of the Saturday shooting which sent one man to the hospital, and the subsequent arrest of two men for the crime.
According to the release, officers received a call Saturday morning around 10:40 reporting a possible shooting at 1070 Paiute Lane in Susanville.
Upon arrival, the report continues, officers located a male victim who was suffering from a single gunshot wound to the left leg. The suspects had fled the scene prior to the arrival of the officers.
The gunshot victim was transported to Banner Lassen Medical Center, and later transferred to Renown Medical Center in Reno for treatment of his injuries.
Initial interviews by agency officers revealed that one of the suspects knew the victim and went to his apartment to rob him, which reportedly resulted in the shooting.
Their investigation led officers to a residence in the 600 block of Court Street in Susanville, where 47 year-old Herlong resident David Fernandes Medeiros and 35 year-old Susanville resident Chad Bernard Patton were taken into custody without incident.
Both subjects were booked into the Lassen County Jail on the charges of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, robbery and possession of stolen property. According to Chief Downing they will be held on $65,000.00 bail.
Downing thanked the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office, California Highway Patrol, and the Susanville Fire Department for the assistance they gave the Police Department during the investigation.
