Banner Lassen Medical Center is offering the women of the community the opportunity to pamper themselves while learning about their health.
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, the hospital is excited to bring you “Manicures, Massages, and Mammograms” each Friday in October. Women who schedule for screening mammograms on these days will be treated with free massages and manicures provided by local professionals. Appointments will be scheduled from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 5, 12, 19 and 26.
“Our goal is to educate our community on the importance of mammograms as a diagnostic tool,” said Banner Lassen’s lead mammography technologist Cindy Kniss. “Early detection is the best way to survive breast cancer and mammograms are the best tool for finding and fighting breast cancer early.”
The American Cancer Society recommends that women 40 and over have an annual mammogram. Women should talk with their doctors about their personal risk factors and make a decision about when to start getting mammograms or how often they should get them.
“If you’ve never had a mammogram, you may be nervous,” Kniss said. “We encourage you to relax with a massage, be pampered with a manicure and save your life with a mammogram.”
She recommends the following tips for preparing for a mammogram:
You must have a doctor’s order for a screening mammogram only (no symptoms) and scheduling an appointment is required for the October events by calling 530-252-2065. Appointments are limited.
