Range Inspected at Honey Lake

August 28th, 1944

Col. Thomas W. Miller, improvement supervisor for region three of the bureau of grazing, spent two days last week in the Honey Lake district making an inspection of range improvements, and proposed projects to be constructed during the 1945 fiscal year.

The bureau of grazing plans to construct 20 stock watering reservoirs, also a number of miles of fire guards and truck trails, which will also act as stock trails. Additional areas which are too rocky for cattle to travel to get to water, will also be opened.

The bureau further plans to make an addition to the district warehouse in Susanville, which will serve as storage facilities for rolling equipment.

 Susanville Plans Civic Improvement

A civic improvement program has been adopted by the Susanville Rotary club which will lead to a more attractive and healthful community.

The program includes the cleaning up of Main street; providing a club for Susanville’s youth; the improvement of the new cemetery; stocking Susan river with fish; cleaning up lots, including weed control and the removal of unsightly, old and dangerous buildings.

A meeting of the club is planned in the near future when other community needs will be discussed and acted upon.
