The best late-April weather in years brought out the junior anglers Saturday morning, as local waterways opened one week early for the Lassen Sportsmens Club’s 23rd Annual Junior Fishing Derby.

The younger kids fished along Paiute Creek in Memorial Park and the older kids lined the Susan River from Hobo Camp down to the southeast end of town.
