There will be a week-long gala celebration of the 50th anniversary of the incorporation of the city of Susanville from June 19th through June 25th.

All stores will carry out the birthday theme with window displays and banners. The Susanville Chamber of Commerce is taking the lead in organizing the festivities.

There will be folk dancing by the Lassen Promenaders who will perform old-time dancing in gay costumes.

The Lassen Roping Club will sponsor a rodeo and racing program of quarter horses at the Lassen County Fair Grounds, where the new $65,000 all-steel grandstand is being completed.

Roy Roger’s horse ‘Trigger Jr.’ will perform four shows including a trick riding show and a kiddie performance on Sunday.

The Lassen County Memorial Athletic association will sponsor a baseball game between the Susanville Merchants and Alturas Tigers on both Saturday and Sunday. The Saturday night game will be played under the new $12,000 lighting system which has just been installed.

The chamber is making arrangements to handle a capacity crowd of approximately 5,000 people who are traveling to Susanville to witness the spectacle.
